○ Bearded Dragon

The bearded dragon's name is fitting due to its dragon-like appearance, complete with a coat of spiky scales. Among these scales is a distinctive feature known as the "beard," a set of spikes underneath the chin that can puff up to reflect the dragon's mood. There are currently eight recognized species of bearded dragons, all commonly referred to as "beardies." These reptiles are native to the deserts of Australia and were not introduced to the United States until the 1990s, but have since gained popularity as pets.

○ Horned Lizard

Horned lizards are a group of lizards found throughout North and Central America. They are named for the horn-like projections on their heads and bodies, which they use for defense against predators. Horned lizards are small, typically growing to no more than six inches in length, and are known for their unique defensive behaviors, such as puffing up their bodies to appear larger or squirting blood from their eyes to deter predators. They are primarily insectivorous, feeding on a variety of ants, beetles, and other small insects. Horned lizards are also adapted to life in arid environments and are able to survive long periods without water by obtaining moisture from their food.
